Van Wyck Expressway Ramp To Permanently Close For Roadway Widening
Exit 5 from the northbound Van Wyck Expressway to Atlantic Avenue will be permanently closed starting on Monday.

QUEENS — An exit ramp on the Van Wyck Expressway will permanently shut down as the state's Department of Transportation widens the highway.
Exit 5 from the northbound Van Wyck Expressway to Atlantic Avenue will be permanently closed starting on Monday, March 27, morning about 7:00 a.m., the department said.
NYSDOT recommended motorists use Exit 4, which is about half a mile south of Exit 5, if they want to get to Atlantic Avenue.

The closure is part of the state's project to improve vehicular access to and from John F. Kennedy Airport.
The project will an additional travel lane on the Van Wyck Expressway in each direction between JFK Airport and the Kew Gardens Interchange. It will also address "operational deficiencies" of the Van Wyck Expressway exit and entrance ramps in some sectors.
