Woman Found Dead In Water Near Queens Park Identified: NYPD

QUEENS, NY — A woman was found dead in the water near Fort Totten in Queens over the weekend, police said.

The victim was found unresponsive in the water around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday.

The woman, identified as Sharon Shao, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a PIX11 report.

The 51-year-old's body was found near an abandoned white Mercedes sedan, police said.

The city's medical examiner will determine the official cause of the woman’s death.

The NYPD has not said at this time if the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

An investigation remains ongoing.
