- On Monday afternoon, a car jumped a curb and hit a woman and a produce market in Astoria before fleeing the scene. Surveillance video from the United Brothers Fruit Market caught the accident along the sidewalk on 33rd Street as it approached 30th Avenue. According to witnesses, the driver of the car appeared to be fleeing from unmarked law enforcement vehicles behind it. The driver was later apprehended in Woodside, about a mile away, after crashing into a parked car. The victim is expected to recover. (ABC7NY)
- A GPS tracking device was found under the hood of a marked New York Police Department (NYPD) vehicle in Queens. According to an email obtained by News 4, NYPD members were reminded to inspect their patrol vehicles before and after their shifts to ensure no GPS trackers were on them. The email came ahead of a separate report in which someone loosened the lug nuts of an NYPD van on the Upper West Side, which caused a wheel to fly off it on Monday night. (NBC New York)
- On Monday, a Queens man was arraigned on child sex trafficking and rape charges. According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, 38-year-old Troy Siddons allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl he met at a party in January 2022 and forced her to have sex for money. The victim was rescued from a Brooklyn home where captors allegedly held her. Siddons faces charges of child sex trafficking, sex trafficking, compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution, and rape; if convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison. (1010 WINS)
