5 Rescued From Boat Without Power On Peconic Bay: Police
The rescue took place Tuesday night, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Five people were rescued from a boat in the Peconic Bay Tuesday night, police said.
According to Riverhead police, the incident took place at about 9:55 p.m.; a 911 call came in from someone on the 17-foot vessel, stating that he and four others were on the boat, drifting without any power.
Riverhead police deployed a drone to locate the boat in the water. The Riverhead Police Department's dive team was activated, responded, and found the five onboard. The dive team towed the boat back in safely without incident; all five individuals were fine, police said.
