Bicyclist Seriously Hurt After Being Struck In Wading River: Police
The bicyclist was hit on Monday afternoon, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a motorist in Wading River Monday afternoon, police said.
According to Riverhead town police, the crash took place at about 1:51 p.m. on Route 25A in Wading River, between East Wind Drive and Hulse Landing Road.
A driver heading west struck a male bicyclist, who was also traveling west in the travel portion of the road, police said. The bicyclist was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Wading River Fire Department with serious physical injuries, police said.

His name was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was interviewed by the Riverhead Police Department's detective division; no charges were filed, and the crash appears to be non-criminal, police said.

The New York State Police Department's accident reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation, police said.
