Labor Day Weekend Stop DWI Patrols Net 6 Arrests: Cops

The enhanced enforcement measures were in effect throughout the course of the holiday weekend.

A Labor Day crackdown on DWI during the course of Labor Day weekend netted six arrests, police said.

According to the Riverhead Town Police Department, increased Stop-DWI enforcement began on Friday and continued through Monday.

The enforcement included increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints which were held on Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. and ending on Sunday at 2:30 a.m., police said.

Those arrested during the DWI enforcement, according to police, included: Ricardo Polanco Peraza, 37, of Riverhead, arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with driving while intoxicated; Nancy Walker, 68, of Greenport, arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with DWI; Alonzo Sazo-Tocay, 33, of Riverhead, arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with DWI and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation; John Finn, 55, of Riverhead, arrested on Sept. 2 and charged with felony DWI, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and criminal possession of stolen property; he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle at the time of arrest, police said; Hilario Hernandez Rubio, 41, of Riverhead, arrested on Sept. 2 and charged with felony DWI, and Clara A. Love, 21, of Riverhead, arrested on Sept. 3 and charged with DWI, police said.

All were processed at Riverhead Police Headquarters and held until arraignment, police said.
