LI Man Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash Off LIE Exit Ramp: Police

He died at the scene in Calverton, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Calverton Friday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Edwards Avenue and the eastbound Long Island Expressway ramp at Exit 71 at about 7:05 a.m.

Scott Mancuso, 48, of Ridge, was driving a 2023 Hyundai Elantra and attempting to make a left turn from the eastbound LIE exit ramp at exit 71 to northbound Edwards Avenue when he was struck by a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Darnell Chandler, 24, of Calverton, police said.

Mancuso was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk
County Medical Examiner; Chandler was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and no charges were filed, police said.
