PHOTOS: Play Ball! Little League Celebrates 60th Opening Day

Five hundred and fifty Little Leaguers celebrated opening day on Saturday at Stotzky Park.

Five hundred and fifty boys and girls on 38 different teams celebrated Riverhead Little League's 60th opening day on Saturday at Stotzky Park.

Tossing the first pitch this year was former New York Met Mookie Wilson, and catching was Christopher Timpone, a local boy who overcame cancer over the past year. Timpone will be a member of the St. Louis Cardinals this year in Riverhead Little League's Majors, though as he continues his recovery will have to wait to take the field.

Joe and Shelia Cuccia were honored by Little League President for the past 15 years, Tony Sammartano, for their hard work and dedication to the league.
