1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured In Nassau Motorcycle Crash

Police say a motorcycle hit a pedestrian as they were crossing the street, injuring them and the rider.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — One man is dead and another is in serious condition after a motorcycle crash in Rockville Centre Sunday night.

According to police, a 36-year-old man was driving a 2020 BMW motorcycle east on Merrick Road at 11:53 p.m. when he hit a 42-year-old man who was crossing the road near North Forest Avenue. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle, and the motorcycle then hit a 2012 Honda Civic, which was also heading east on Merrick Road.

The two men both suffered multiple traumatic injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The 42-year-old pedestrian died from his injuries at 1:40 a.m. The motorcyclist is in serious condition.

The driver of the Honda was not injured, and remained at the scene. Police say the Honda was given a brake and safety check at the scene. The motorcycle was impounded.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
