LIRR Responds To Commuters; Makes Adjustments To 5 Branches

The new changes began on April 10.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The Long Island Rail Road is not done making schedule adjustments.

The latest changes, which took effect on Monday, impact five branches as the rail line addresses the anger of commuters since Grand Central Madison's opening last month.

Babylon Branch:

The 7:38 a.m. train from Wantagh to Penn Station will be extended to Babylon and depart at 7:23 a.m. After departing Babylon, the train will run express to Wantagh.

Montauk Branch:

Times for some trains departing east of Speonk will see a shift of up to six minutes.

Port Jefferson Branch:

The 6:57 a.m. train from Huntington to Grand Central will add a 7:29 a.m. stop at New Hyde Park.

The 3:15 p.m. train from Long Island City to Port Jefferson will run express from Mineola to Huntington, bypassing Hicksville.

For customers to Hicksville, you can transfer at Jamaica for the 3:52 p.m. Ronkonkoma-bound train. Heading from Hicksville, customers can use the 3:58 p.m. to Huntington, and can transfer for service to Port Jefferson and points east.

Port Washington Branch:

The 5:07 p.m. train from Penn Station to Port Washington will no longer stop at Douglaston or Little Neck. Those stops will be added to the 5:10 p.m. from Penn Station to Great Neck.

City Terminal Zone:

The 7:28 a.m. from Grand Central to Far Rockaway will no longer stop at Woodside.

For service to Woodside, take the 7:19 a.m. from Grand Central. From Woodside, commuters can use the 7:37 a.m. train toward Ronkonkoma and transfer at Jamaica.
