Shop For A Cause At Life's WORC, July 25th
Life's WORC Headquarters Opens From 10 AM-4 PM
Calling all thrift shoppers! To raise funds for its scholarship program, Life's WORC is staging, "Shop For A Cause" on Friday, July 25th, 10 AM-4 PM. A variety of marked down, discounted items will be presented for sale at the Life's WORC Garden City headquarters, 1501 Franklin Avenue (diagonally across from the Nassau County Police Headquarters). According to Life's WORC Senior Vice President Tina Moreno: "We have a huge treasure chest of gently-used and pre-loved items...everything from collectibles, to clothes, to shoes, to books, to home items. This is an ideal way to discover something you are missing, finding an item you need, an item which is useful, all on the cheap!" Light refreshments will be served combined with a huge welcome!
Life's WORC was launched 54 years ago in response to the Willowbrook (Staten Island) scandal where people with developmental disabilities and autism suffered mistreatment and inhumane conditions. The public outcry led to to creation of non-profit organizations like Life's WORC. Today Life's WORC provides a variety of services to some 2000 people with developmental disabilities and autism. It operates a network of 45 group residences in Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, and Manhattan. Life's WORC is an important economic development force and an employer of more than 800.
