A vehicle caught fire on the Southern State Parkway, closing multiple lanes during rush hour Thursday morning.
LAKEVIEW, NY — A vehicle caught fire on the Southern State Parkway, closing multiple lanes during rush hour Thursday morning.
It happened around 8 a.m. near Exit 18 for Eagle Avenue. The left and center lanes on the westbound side of the parkway were closed, according to the state Department of Transportation. The center lane has since reopened.
Traffic was backed up from Lakeview to North Merrick.
