Mrs. Slack and members of the Board of Education, Mayor French, Principal Taylor, faculty, parents, honored guests and members of the Rye High School Class of 20β¦13.Β Β
My heartfelt congratulations to this yearβs graduates and to the parents, guardians, grandparents and other family and friends who are sharing in the great joy of this celebration.Β This is, indeed, a special day.Β I welcome you and take pride in acknowledging that these young men and women before you have fulfilled the necessary academic requirements for graduation.Β Β Β

To our students, you will forever be a special class to me.Β Although I have been privileged to participate in many graduation ceremonies, you are my first Rye High School class. I have come to know you in the past year through your accomplishments, your participation in athletics and student activities, and your community involvement.Β And like all great teachers, I have watched and learned from you.Β
You taught me that Rye students are serious about their scholarship.

These lessons learned speak volumes about who you are and of your preparedness to face future challenges.Β Β I am confident that you are most ready and that the Rye way of life has prepared you well.Β Β
Today represents the start of a new phase in your life.Β Grab hold of this new beginningβthis commencement.Β Use the knowledge and skills learned during your time here, rely on your trusted teachers, family and friends to continue to be your pillars of support, and always work to make our world a better place.Β We need your intellect, your youthful vitality and, above all, your compassion to keep our great nation righteous and strong.Β
