Boo! Scared By The Sound Returns To Its 'Rightful Home' At Playland For 2025
The name of the haunting experience makes sense again as the cavalcade of terrors returns to its original seaside home in Rye.

RYE, NY — The sound shore is ready to welcome back its most horrifying denizens, as a favorite fall event has a terrifying homecoming.
Westchester's ultimate haunted destination, Scared by the Sound, returns to its original home in Playland, starting Friday, Oct. 10.
Guests can expect "terrifying thrills, haunted walkthroughs, and spooky surprises" as the Halloween attraction makes its highly anticipated comeback.

"We're both thrilled and excited that Scared by the Sound is back at Playland Park where it all started in 2000," Scared by the Sound Creator, Pat Costello said. "We have a lot of scary surprises in store this Halloween season, so purchase your tickets today so you don't miss out!"
The 12,000 square feet of "pure, nightmare fuel, featuring a cast of ghouls around every corner," will be open on Fridays through Sundays in October, with the final three days of the season taking place Thursday Oct. 30 through Saturday, Nov. 1.

"Playland Park is synonymous with summer, but this year, I'm excited to welcome back Scared by the Sound, and give thrill-seekers across Westchester the chance to experience spine-chilling scares and unforgettable Halloween fun," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said. "After a few years away, it's thrilling to see this iconic event return to its rightful home."
For families with young children who prefer a less frightening visit, a special matinée showing will be offered on Sunday, October 19, from noon to 4 p.m., with toned-down scares and more lighthearted Halloween fun.
Tickets for specific time slots can be purchased here. Prices range from $29-$40 per person. Parking is $10 per car.
"Playland has long been a cornerstone of the Westchester County Parks Department, offering memorable experiences that bring the community together," Westchester County Parks Commissioner, Kathy O'Connor said. "Special events like Scared by the Sound show how the park continues to create unique experiences while honoring its rich traditions."
