• In Memory: Richard 'Pete' Kuntz, Age 79 (myrye.com) — A longtime world traveler and Vietnam veteran who was born in Rye in 1946, Richard “Pete” Kuntz has died at age 79. His life took him from Fordham and Georgia State to service in Vietnam, humanitarian work, and a State Department career abroad, before retiring with his family and spending his final years on Tybee Island.

• NY tax law says $1M buys a 'mansion' in Westchester. Should it be $2M? (lohud.com) — A Rye-based Sotheby’s realtor weighs in as state lawmakers push to double New York’s “mansion tax” threshold from $1 million to $2 million, reflecting Westchester’s soaring home prices. With roughly half of 2025 county home sales already above $1 million, the proposal aims to spare more typical buyers while keeping higher costs on the wealthiest purchases.

• In Memory: Mary Lou Young, Age 96 (myrye.com) — Longtime Rye resident and community volunteer Mary Lou Young, 96, has passed away; she and her first husband settled in Rye in 1960 and were active at American Yacht Club and Christ’s Church. She also served the Rye Garden Club, Twig Organization, United Hospital, and The Osborn before later years in Vero Beach, where a spring memorial service is planned.
