BPR Property Officially Sold; Technology Committee Formed
A message from City of Rye Mayor Douglas French.

Itβs Official -- 1037 Boston Post Road Sold
Central to the Cityβs financial strategy the last few years has been to shift away from large investments in more buildings to focus on investments of core infrastructure such as roads, bridges, sewers, flood mitigation and sidewalks.Β Probably the most written about item in this column has been the 1037 BPR property.Β On April 26thΒ it was officially sold for $5.6M (no mortgage on the property), further restoring more to the Cityβs fund balance and freeing up cash for core infrastructure as part of our βRebuilding Ryeβ initiative.Β Β
Β RyeΒ CityΒ Information Technology Committee Formed
One of the biggest opportunities to improve the Rye resident experience is through information technology.Β Last week, an advisory committee was formed, responsible for providing long-term guidance on setting the information technology strategic direction of the City.Β Their role is to focus on defining IT general direction to ensure that IT guidelines and plans are followed by all departments, assist in setting IT priorities for the allocation of resources, set decision criteria to ensure the integrity of the annual IT work-plan and policy regarding network behavior.Β Also to set basic technology training needs for the City staff and develop a three to five year technology vision.Β Thanks to all of those who have stepped up to serve.
