Raccoon Trapped in Car; Deer and Dog Reports in Rye

Raccoon Reports

On Sept. 19 at 9:13 p.m. a family on Midland Ave. reported that a raccoon was trapped in its car. A police sergeant responded and helped the family get the animal out of their car.

 On Sept. 25 at 7:56 p.m. a report of injured raccoon in a garage was made. Police reported the call as unfounded.

 On Sept. 24 at 6:50 p.m. police received a call that a raccoon on a resident’s property appeared sickly. Upon arrival the raccoon fled into the woods.

Dog Reports

Pit Bull Removed from Grace Church Street

On Sept. 22 at 4:34 p.m. a woman off Island Drive was following a wayward pit bull on Island Drive. Two police cars were sent and the animal was removed from rear of 385 Grace Church Street by the New Rochelle Humane Society at 5:40 p.m.

On Sept. 19 at 12:34 p.m. a dog on Captains Lane was on his neighbor’s property. The neighbor assisted in getting the dog safely back on its own property and alerted the homeowner of the situation.

On Sept. 21 at 6:49 p.m. a loose pit bull in the area of Island Drive was reported to police. Police canvassed the area but did not fid a pit bull.

On Sept. 23 at 5:48 p.m. police received a call that a pit bull was out with no leash in Gagliardo Park. The issue was resolved.

Deer Reports

On Sept. 22 police received a report that a deer was struck by a car at 8 p.m. on Oakland Beach Ave. and Fullerton Place. The caller stated that the deer got up and ran off. Police searched area for the vehicle and deer but both were gone on arrival. 

On Sept. 25 at 4:23 p.m. a resident reported an injured deer on a neighbor’s front yard on Johnson Place. Police called for the Department of Public Works to pick it up in the morning.
