Rye Resident Ticketed for Harboring Pesky Hens
The hens are driving neighbors crazy, according to police.

After two unruly hens damaged a Forest Avenue residentβs French doors and left feces all over her patio and yard, the homeowner turned to the police last Friday. The woman showed police photographs of hens at her back door and claimed that her nearby neighbor had a coop for them in their backyard. She also said they make a loud screeching noises in the mornings similar to a roosterβs crowing.
Police saw the hens on the womanβs property while she showed them around her backyard. One of the hens was standing on a basement window frame. The responding officer contacted the henβs owner who said βwe feed some wild birds,β according to the police report. The officer issued the alleged hen owner two city code summons, one for harboring of animals and another for nuisance noise made by the hens.Β
