Dobbs Ferry: Families Valued-Why Marriage Matters

Description: Enjoy a play reading of "Families Valued: Why Marriage Matters," by William Randall Beard that discussed the stories of gay and lesbian couples and marriage is so meaningful to them. A discussion will follow the play.

Larchmont-Mamaroneck: Anti-Bullying Day

Place: Excel Martial Arts, 2097 Palmer Ave., Larchmont

When: Saturday, April 20, 2:30 p.m.

Description: Excel’s trained head instructors will present a curriculum of ways to promote “Bully-Avoidance Skills," nonviolent resolutions to conflict. They will also assist students in their development of “Anti-Abduction Skills," giving them the ability to defend themselves against predators and understanding right from wrong.

New Rochelle: Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945

Place: Temple Israel of New Rochelle, 1000 Pinebrook Blvd, New Rochelle

When: 2 p.m., April 20

Description: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum traveling exhibition "Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945" will be hosted by Temple Israel of New Rochelle in partnership with The LOFT: LGBT Community Services Center from April 21, 2013, to June 9, 2013.

An opening reception will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013. Remarks will be given by Temple Israel of New Rochell Senior Rabbi Scott Weiner and The LOFT Executive Director David Juhren.

Exhibit hours from Sunday, April 21 Sunday, June 9, 2013 will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, and 9 a.m. to noon Sundays.

Pelham: Cherry Blossom Festival

Description:  The cherry blossom season returns to Pelham Art Center this year with more workshops and demonstrations in traditional Japanese folk arts.
