Two New Attractions at Playland's Haunted House This Year

This information was submitted by Westchester County: Zombies, ghouls, ghosts and creeps eagerly await you when the “Scared by the Sound” Haunted House returns with two additional all new attractions for the Halloween season, beginning Friday, Oct. 5 at Playland Park in Rye.

Visitors are invited into the 10,000-square-foot haunt, which features a spooky wine cellar, library, sanitarium and more. The attraction’s “tunnel of doom” is a spook-fest from beginning to end, and the waterfront cemetery and mausoleum are spine-tingling treats.

But more intense startles and scares await...those who journey through the new “Demented Pumpkin Patch” and “Terror Trail” will find themselves amid “unstable” inhabitants as they walk through a path of intricately carved and lit pumpkins, wander through cornfields and stumble upon a slaughter house in their trespass. Enter if you dare!

Hours for “Scared by the Sound” are Fridays, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturdays, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 29 - 31, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In addition to the regular shows, “Hardly Haunted Matinees” providing non-scary fun for children under 8 years of age will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28 from noon to 4 p.m.

Light refreshments and beverages will be available for sale each evening.

Admission for “Scared by the Sound” is $16 for adults, $12 for children under 12, and $5 for Hardly Haunted Matinees; admission for “The Demented Pumpkin Patch/Terror Trail” is $12 for all ages; combo tickets offer savings on admission to both events at $25 for adults, and $20 for children under 12. Go to scaredbythesound.com to purchase tickets online by credit card.
