Annual Groundhog Day Celebration At Holtsville Ecology Center

Will there be six more weeks of winter? You'll soon find out.

The Holtsville Ecology Center will host its annual Groundhog Day Celebration on Saturday.

Residents can see the Ecology Center's famous groundhog, Holtsville Hal, make his prediction at 7: 25 a.m. at 249 Buckley Rd.

Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Daniel Losquadro will reveal Hal's forecast, with will be followed by free hot chocolate and a visit to the Animal Preserve, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 100 animals will be on display.

Residents are asked to arrive as close to 7 a.m. as possible to get a good view of Hal.
