Breeze Airways Adds New Nonstop Flights From LI MacArthur Airport To Myrtle Beach, SC

Flights will run two times weekly on Wednesday and Saturday on its Airbus A220 aircraft with flights starting at $69, officials say.

RONKONKOMA, NY — Breeze Airways will begin new nonstop flights between Long Island MacArthur Airport and Myrtle Beach beginning May 6, airport operators, the Town of Islip, said.

Breeze will serve the route two times weekly on Wednesday and Saturday on its Airbus A220 aircraft with flights starting at $69.

Other non-stop Breeze destinations at the airport include Charleston, SC, as well as Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Vero Beach in Florida; Norfolk and Richmond in Virginia; Raleigh-Durham and Wilmington in North Carolina.

Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said the airline continues to grow at the airport, "to the delight of both Long Island residents and visitors enjoying our legendary convenience as they explore our beautiful region and connect with family and friends."

"Our local community and loyal [LIMA] travelers have been asking for more service to Myrtle Beach, and we’re grateful Breeze Airways has recognized another opportunity to serve our customers," she added.

With the addition of nonstops from LIMA to Myrtle Beach, SC, in May, Breeze will have nine nonstop destinations, growing its average daily departures and seats since 2022 by over 425 percent and over 516 percent, respectively.

Breeze had its FAA certification proving runs at LIMA early in 2021 and demonstrating compliance that spring.

In December 2021, Breeze founder David Neeleman announced service from LIMA and Breeze launched ISP commercial service in February 2022, with two nonstop cities, including Charleston, SC, and Norfolk, VA, with an average of four nonstop trips per week in 2022.

LIMA Airport Commissioner Rob Schneider said that one of the airport's goals is to make it easy for airlines "to do business and serve customers in the New York region by keeping airline costs low and prioritizing effective marketing initiatives."

"We’re intentionally making Long Island MacArthur Airport a smart business choice for capacity investment,” he said.

Islip Town Councilman John Lorenzo said that all of the airport's Breeze Airways flights are to destinations customers can find there, not at JFK or La Guardia.

Other features passengers will enjoy include "an excellent customer experience with the convenience of close parking, quick gate access, and an efficient TSA security screening operation," he added.

Mitch Pally, Discover Long Island's interim president and chief executive officer, called the airport "a resource for all Long Island" that brings "good jobs and opportunities to our region."

"It’s the easy, go-to airport for Long Islanders heading on a vacation or traveling for business," he said. "These new Breeze flights to Myrtle Beach will also bring visitors to Long Island to enjoy the Fire Island National Seashore, Long Island’s East End, our excellent dining and winery choices, charming villages, historic lighthouses and much more."
