Brookhaven Youth Corps Attend Function at Holtsville Ecology Center
Work for six weeks to improve conservation in the community.

Earlier this month, the Town of Brookhaven hosted it’s Youth Conservation Corps summer employment program participants at the Holtsville Ecology Center.
The Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Community Development and the Suffolk County Department of Labor sponsors the annual program that hires boys and girls, between the ages of 14, and 21, from the Bellport and Gordon Heights areas.
They are selected for a six-week work program where they conduct conservation and community improvement projects at various Town Parks and Recreation Centers. The program is paid for through the Town’s Department of Housing and Human Services using Community Development funds.

“The Youth Conservation Corps summer program is a great way for kids to earn valuable work experience, make some money, and help improve our parks and recreation facilities,” said Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko. “I thank them and their supervisors for helping to make Brookhaven a better place for everyone.”
