Electric Scooter Rider Killed In Suffolk Crash: Police

The car and the scooter collided on Tuesday, police say.

SELDEN, NY — A man is dead after his electric scooter collided with a car on Tuesday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 5:05 p.m., the driver of a 2009 Ford Escape was traveling southbound on Boyle Road just behind a man riding an electric scooter. The vehicles collided just north of Middle Country Road.

The operator of the scooter, Henry Leib, 53, of Selden, was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The 23-year-old driver of the Ford was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
