Holtsville Hall To Offer Prediction This Weekend

Brookhaven's own groundhog will forecast the next six weeks of weather on Sunday.

Holtsville, NY — This Sunday, February 2, Brookhaven's own rodential meteorologist Holtsville Hal will offer his prediction about the possibility about an early spring. The Groundhog Day tradition will take place at the Brookhaven Wildlife and Ecology Center at 7 a.m.

Gates will open to the public at 7 a.m. and Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro will announce Holtsville Hal’s famous forecast at 7:25 a.m. According to the tradition if the groundhog sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of cold winter weather and if not, we can all look forward to an early spring.

After the prediction, attendees to the free event are welcome to visit the Animal Preserve that has more than 100 rescued animals. 7-11 is supplying coffee and bagels will be on hand from Bagel Lovers.
