Inaugural Breeze Airways Flight Takes Off Friday From Islip To SC
The first Charleston-bound flight from MacArthur Airport's newest airline took off to fanfare on Friday morning.
RONKONKOMA, NY — The first-ever Charleston-bound flight has left Long Island. Breeze Airway's inaugural trip from Suffolk's MacArthur Airport departed Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. with a ceremonial send-off.
CEO of Breeze Airways David Neeleman announced in December that the airline will begin offering direct connections between Long Island and Charleston, SC and Norfolk VA.
Neelman was on hand Friday morning, along with Islip Town officials, to mark the first Long Island Breeze trip.

According to the Town of Islip, when the flight lands in Charleston, local officials will "commemorate the new Breeze Airways route with an exchange of gifts representative of their hometowns."
