Ronkonkoma, NY — Inspired by the upcoming Super Bowl, firefighters from the Ronkonkoma and Centereach fire departments faced off in a competition of their own for a good cause. The firefighters competed in an all-you-can-eat buffalo wing eating contest at the Ronkonkoma Stop & Shop on Wednesday, with the winning department receiving $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.

The charity prize donations were supplied by Stop & Stop. Centereach firefighters ate a total of 52 wings, while Ronkonkoma clocked in with 35. The winning donation was given to the Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo Memorial Foundation (Joey D Foundation) which trains firefighters how to safely do their jobs.
