K-9 Officer Helps Track Down Suffolk Pharmacy Burglar: Cops
Cash and prescription medication were stolen during the burglary Sunday morning.
LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY – A 36-year-old man was arrested after he broke into a Suffolk County pharmacy Sunday morning, police said.
Jason Romano, of Lake Ronkonkoma, is charged with third degree burglary.
According to Suffolk Police, Fourth Precinct Patrol Officer Carol Tappen responded to a burglar alarm call at Slater Pharmacy located at 407 Hawkins Ave. in Lake Ronkonkoma at 6:51 a.m. and observed a hole in the wall on the corner of the building.

Canine Officer Mark Sacco and his partner Bosco responded and initiated a track through a wooded area in the rear of the store. Sacco and Bosco located cash along the track and then located Romano with white particles on his clothing that matched building materials damaged in the burglary, police said.
Cash and prescription medication stolen during the burglary were recovered by police.

Romano will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
