Man Arrested For DWI After Holbrook Crash
A woman was taken to the hospital after the crash early Saturday, police say.

HOLBROOK, NY – A 49-year-old man was arrested on a DWI charge following a two-car crash in Holbrook early Saturday, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, Charles Scharf was driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra west on Veterans Highway when he lost control of the car and struck a 2018 Mazda on Grundy Avenue that was stopped at the intersection and waiting to make a turn onto westbound Veterans Highway shortly after midnight.
The female driver of the Mazda, who police did not name, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Scharf, of Holbrook, was arrested and charged with DWI. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday morning at First District Court in Central Islip.
