Minor Crash Turns Into Tragedy On Long Island Expressway

Stephen Neville, of Lake Ronkonkoma, died after his car was hit by a FedEx truck on the Long Island Expressway, police said.

RONKONKOMA, NY — A 29-year-old man was killed in a crash on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday night, police said.

Stephen Neville, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was driving a 2018 Honda sedan east on the expressway when his car collided with a 2017 Nissan sedan as both drivers were attempting to exit at Exit 60 in Ronkonkoma at about 11:35 p.m., Suffolk police said.

The Honda came to a stop in the center lane and the Nissan stopped on the exit ramp. Both drivers exited their vehicles and determined neither was injured. Neville, 29, got back into the Honda, which was then struck by an eastbound FedEx cargo truck, causing him to be ejected from the car.
