Nassau Man Caught Speeding At 130MPH On LIE: Police

The 23-year-old was cited for for unlawful speed contest, along with eight other vehicle and traffic infractions, police say.

RONKONKOMA, NY — A driver was cited in connection with an illegal speed contest and reckless driving Saturday morning in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk police said.

Members of the Street Takeover Task Force saw a 2018 Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway, near Exit 59, racing another vehicle at speeds of 130 mph, at 12 a.m., police said, adding, that officers stopped the Toyota and cited the driver, a 23-year-old from Oyster Bay, for unlawful speed contest, along with eight other vehicle and traffic infractions.

The vehicle was impounded, police said.

He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 28.
