Five days before Christmas, on December 20th, the Panico family escaped an early morning fire that left their home and possessions unsalvageable. Friends and neighbors have rallied to their aid, creating a GoFundMe campaign that very same day. Tina Valente, of Holbrook, told Patch that she woke up on the morning of the 20th to sirens and her neighbor's home completely engulfed in flames.

"It was the most heartbreaking thing to see right around the holidays," she said. "I knew I wanted to do something, anything for the family."

The campaign has raised $745 of a $1,000 goal. The Panico family includes two girls in second and fourth grade.
