New Info On Car That Killed 'Beautiful Soul' In Hit-And-Run Crash: PD

RONKONKOMA, NY — Suffolk County Police said Tuesday that detectives have determined the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a young woman in Ronkonkoma on May 20 is a dark-colored Toyota Prius.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place about 3:20 a.m. on Ronkonkoma Avenue at Third Street. Elyse Crivaro, who was in the roadway, was struck by a car traveling southbound on Ronkonkoma Avenue, police said.

The driver, who was in a dark-colored sedan, fled the scene, police said.

Crivaro, of Holbrook, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

According to her obituary, Elyse was "a beautiful soul who graced this world with her kindness, sweetness, humor, and creativity. Elyse's presence illuminated the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion."

The obituary added: "Elyse had an innate talent for creativity that shone throughout her life. She poured her heart into her artistry, creating sketches, paintings, and poetry that captured the essence of her beautiful spirit."
