Nicolls Road Near LIE Reopened After Debris Cleared: Suffolk PD

UPDATE: Police said the roadway was reopened just before 6 p.m., and there were no injuries.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — A portion of Nicolls Road near the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville is closed on Monday, Suffolk County police said.

A trailer overturned at about 1:45 p.m. and dirt and debris was spilled onto the roadway, police said. The road will remain closed while the dirt is cleared, and a heavy duty tow truck was called to the scene, according to a police spokeswoman.

Police advised motorists to take an alternate route.
