Overnight Long Island Expressway Closures Coming To Town Of Brookhaven

TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, NY — Both directions of the Long Island Expressway in part of the Town of Brookhaven are set to close overnight starting Monday, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The L.I.E. will be closed at Exit 65 (Suffolk County Route 16/Horse Block Road) between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for two weeks, weather permitting, because of a bridge maintenance project. All lanes will be detoured onto the Service Roads during the closures.

Drivers were urged by the state to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
