See VIDEO. They were charged Thursday with petty larceny in connection with taking a cordless hammer drill and battery pack, cops say.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — A father and son duo were arrested Thursday after swiping a cordless hammer drill and battery pack from Brookhaven Town Hall after filing a permit, Newsday reported.
Nikitas Margiellos, 51, of West Babylon, and Demetrios Margiellos, 26, of Bay Shore, were charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, at around 11:20 a.m., Suffolk police said.
In surveillance video from the Town of Brookhaven, the pair can be seen in the permits department and then one man taking an object from a desk and passing it behind his back to the other man.

A clerk can be seen getting up to look out the window at the counter as the two leave down the hallway.
Supervisor Dan Panico told Newsday that the drill and battery pack belonged to a contractor who was repairing a ceiling on the third floor and he had walked away.

The pair were asked back to town hall while the police waited to arrest them and the drill was found in their car outside, according to the outlet.
“The moral of the story is that there are cameras everywhere. People should think twice about engaging in criminal behavior," Panico told the outlet.
The pair are due in court on April 3, according to online court records.
They could not be reached by phone on Tuesday.
