Here are the top three stories today in Sachem:

  1. Suffolk police are asking the public for information about a woman who stole packages from a Stony Brook porch on Dec. 19. It happened on Stony Brook Road around 8 p.m. and the woman's image was captured on a security camera. (Patch)
  2. Suffolk airports are getting federal funding as part of the Infrastructure Act. Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma got $4,287,127, Brookhaven Calebro Airport in Shirley got $295,000 and the Bayport Aerodrome received $110,000. (Long Island Press)
  3. Patients at Stony Brook Children's enjoyed Christmas songs this month, from Stony Brook University students with the Instrument Petting Zoo. The interactive workshop normally plays at libraries and school, and now they will visit the kids once a month until May. (Greater Long Island)

  • Three neighbors in Fort Salonga woke up on Monday to discover their cars were stolen. A 2020 BMW from Hastings Drive, a 2019 Acura on Linwood Lane and a 2009 Audi from Breezy Hill Drive were caught being stolen on a resident's Ring surveillance video. (News 12)
  • Shots were fired into a home in Mastic on Tuesday night on Mastic Boulevard around 7:35 p.m., but no injuries were reported. (Patch)
  • William Floyd Middle School general music teacher Jonathan Dignam has compiled a list of the locations of the best decorated homes in Nassau and Suffolk counties on a Google map available on the LI Lights Map Facebook page. (Patch)
