Sachem Elementary Collects Donations For U.S. Military Overseas

Lake Grove, NY — Fifth grade students at Wenonah Elementary School organized a school-wide campaign to show support to members of the U.S. military stationed overseas. The Sachem Central School District participated in the statewide effort sponsored by New York State Senator Monica Martinez.

The fifth graders led students across the grade levels in gathering 817 food and personal items, along with 502 letters written by students for the soldiers. The letter writing allowed the students to learn more about the lives of soldiers and their deployments.
