Sachem Students Donate 2,000 Boxes Of Food To Thanksgiving Drives

District-wide collection to benefit families in need.

Students from the Sachem Central School District donated more than 2,000 boxes of collected items for Thanksgiving food drives this year.

The food will help feed families in the Sachem community and will be distributed by various local organizations.

Led by Sachem North’s Student Government donation of 1,688 boxes, food was collected in every building throughout the school district. Sachem East’s Student Government gathered 319 boxes.

At Sachem North a group of students called the “Robin Hood Kids” collected more than $3,000 to purchase turkeys, while the student group, the “Dirty Dozen,” was responsible for more than 1,500 of the total boxes delivered to families.

For weeks students have been seen at local food stories drumming up support and donations leading up to this miraculous and meaningful effort, school officials said.
