2 Children, Mom Seriously Hurt In Crash With Drunken Driver: Cops
Police say a Jeep slammed into the back of the family's car, which had become disabled Friday evening.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – A woman and two of her three daughters were seriously injured when a drunken driver slammed into the back of their car Friday evening, police said.
According to Suffolk police, 31-year-old Erika Bautista and her three daughters were inside a northbound 2015 Honda, which had become disabled in the right lane of County Route 83, north of South Bicycle Path, in Farmingville when it was struck in the rear by a 2018 Jeep being driven by 36-year-old Chris Montpetit at 5:06 p.m.
Bautista, of Farmingville, and her daughters Melissa Bautista, 4, and Lizabeth Bautista, 8, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Ruby Bautista, 10, was transported to the same hospital with injuries that are not considered life threatening.

Montpetit, of Shirley, was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Saturday. He was released without bail and will be back in court on Sept. 30.
The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553. All calls will be kept confidential.
