Team Sachem Raises More Than $31K For Special Olympics

It was the top fundraiser for the Town of Brookhaven's annual polar plunge event at Cedar Beach, school district officials say.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Team Sachem raised more than $31,000 for the Special Olympics at the Town of Brookhaven's annual Polar Plunge event last month at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai, allowing more than 60 athletes to be helped, school district officials said.

It was the top fundraiser for this year’s polar plunge event.

It was the 10th anniversary of the team participating in the event, and over the years, the team has grown to more than 50 members of the Sachem community, including students, parents, and staff.
