Police ID Suffolk Woman Killed In Apparent Hit-And-Run Crash: PD
She was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway when she was struck at around 5:30 a.m., Suffolk police say.
BOHEMIA, NY — Police have identified a woman killed by an apparent hit-and-run driver in Bohemia early Wednesday as Joan Foley, 59, of Central Islip.
The incident took place while she was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway at 5th Avenue; the vehicle fled the scene at around 5:15 a.m., and Foley was pronounced dead, according to police.
A portion of Veterans Memorial Highway in Bohemia was closed from Remington Boulevard to East Suffolk Avenue while police investigated.

The Bohemia crash is the second of three serious crashes over about 15 hours on eastern Suffolk County. The first took place at around 2 p.m. in North Bellport where a bicyclist was struck. A 41-year-old Shirley man was seriously hurt in a two-car crash in North Patchogue at around 12:35 a.m.
