Students wrote pledges of things they would do to make for a positive school year.

Press release from the Sachem Central School District:

Nov. 30, 2022

Students at Waverly Elementary School in the Sachem Central School District planted peace promises around the building’s grounds. Students at each grade level received daffodil bulbs with a paper peace promise attached. They wrote pledges of things they would do to make for a positive school year. For example, some students pledged to give other compliments, be kind, use positive words and pick up garbage. Pre-K through fourth graders planted the front of the building along Waverly Avenue and fifth graders planted near the main entrance, around the Sue Finnerty Memorial Garden.

In the springtime, these daffodils will bloom to beautify the school, but also to remind students of their peace pledges. The schoolwide activity brings the building together while creating a positive school environment and culture of caring.
