Who Is Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Suspect Rex Heuermann?
The Massapequa Park man, 59, is an architect and the owner of a consulting firm in Manhattan, according to a Bonjour Realty interview.

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — The reported arrest of Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old Massapequa Park resident, in connection with the Gilgo Beach slayings has many asking just who he is.
Heuermann, an architect and owner of the Manhattan-based RH Consulting, is a building facilitator for the city's Department of Building, helping clients navigate the complicated construction process, according to an interview that Bonjour Realty conducted with him last year.
At least 11 sets of remains have been found along Ocean Parkway since 2010, sparking a massive multi-agency investigation with multiple suspects over the years, but ultimately led to Heuermann Friday.

His small red house in the quiet Massapequa Park neighborhood where he lives was swarmed with police, media, and curiosity-seekers on Friday morning.
In the interview with Bonjour Realty, Heuermann told his host that he began working in Manhattan in 1987. When the interviewer asked Heuermann what kind of tool he would be, Heuermann said his father was an aeronautical engineer who built satellites, but also dabbled in furniture craft, something that he still does in the same workshop that his father used.

Heuermann said he would be a cabinet maker's hammer.
"It is persuasive enough," he said, raising his eyebrows and tilting his head. "When I need to persuade something, not someone, something, and it always yields excellent results. And at the end of the project, whatever piece of furniture or what I'm working on, it always helps it come out beautifully."
Heuermann pleaded not guilty to murder charges in connection with the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello on Friday, and will be held in detention pending the outcome of his case.
His attorney, Michael Brown of Central Islip, told Patch that his client told him that he was innocent.
