Duo Arrested After 35-Mile Cross County Police Chase
A 43-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman led police on a chase after they broke into a Long Island convenience store, police say.
Two people were arrested after a cross county police chase that spanned more than 35 miles Monday night.
It all started with a burglary at Lucky Lotto located at 1104 Smithtown Ave. in Bohemia around 9:35 p.m. A white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van was observed fleeing the scene on surveillance video, according to Suffolk Police.
A vehicle matching the description was spotted in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on Waverly Avenue in Patchogue at about 10:50 p.m. A patrol officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the van fled northbound on Patchogue Holbrook Road, then west onto Sunrise Highway, then north onto Fifth Avenue, police say.

Suffolk Police Aviation Section helicopters, along with New York State Police, Nassau County Police and Freeport Police tracked the vehicle as it fled onto the Southern State Parkway, south on the Wantagh Parkway, and west onto Merrick Road, before being cornered by police vehicles at a construction site on South Main Street in Freeport.
The driver, 43-year-old John Miller, of Brookhaven, and the sole passenger, 45-year-old Annette Bower, of Patchogue, were arrested.

Miller is charged with three counts of third degree burglary (police say he also burglarized a Walgreens in Medford and Sai Cards and Gifts on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma on Sunday), driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal Possession of a controlled substance and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Bowers is charged with third degree burglary and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th Degree.
Miller and Bowers were held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
