The Comic-Con-style event will feature a costume contest, special guest appearances, and more.

SAYVILLE, NY — The hamlet of Sayville is gearing up for another day of fandoms and embracing "your inner nerd."
The Sayville Library will host its second annual 'Sayville Fan Fest' on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
According to librarian and head organizer, Alex Cranshaw, Sayville Fan Fest is a Comic-Con-style event, where participants are encouraged to dress as characters from their favorite fandoms.

Guests can also test their knowledge in 'Trivia Challenge Game Show', hosted by Knock Em Dead Comedy.
"We're trying to do something special," said Cranshaw. "We're trying to make it the closest thing you can get to a Comic Con without going to the city."
In addition, special guests such as the Long Island Tardis, 501st Legion will make appearances. The American Airpower Museum Band will also perform hits from iconic films and television shows.
Guests can also shop for art and enjoy delicious food from more than 30 vendors.
"I'm a big nerd myself," said Cranshaw. "I like to put a lot of my passions into this, and to reflect some of the fandoms that our patrons have here at the library."

More than 1,500 people attended last year's event, Cranshaw said. This year, the library expects an even larger turnout.
"I'm trying to touch as many fandom bases as we can, and just to put on a great, fun event for everyone," he said.
