New Restaurant Revamps Historic Farmhouse Space
The owner of newly opened JT's Farmhouse updated an iconic Bayport landmark dining spot.
Bayport, NY— Justin Tempelman, of Blue Point, opened his third restaurant in the area in one of the most iconic local dining spots he could think of. JT's Farmhouse replaced the now closed Grey Horse Tavern in the 150-year old farmhouse building at 291 Bayport Ave in Bayport. Tempelman, who also owns JT's Cafe and JT's On The Bay in Blue Point, is only the building's eighth owner in 150 years of its existence as an eatery.
“It's one of the most prominent restaurants in town," Tempelman told Patch. "It's very special to locals," he said, many who have lifetime memories at the various restaurants that preceded JT's Farmhouse in the space.
The electic seasonal American cuisine restaurant opened in November after a sprucing up. "We gave it some love inside and outside,” Tempelman says. The building keeps its farmhouse authentic feel and the food features classic dishes with a Southern flair.

The community has welcomed the revamping of the hometown classic, according to Tempelman. "It's almost like we've always been here."
