Man Fatally Shot His Suffolk Backyard ID'd: Police

BOHEMIA, NY — A man who was shot dead in his Bohemia backyard Wednesday morning has been identified.

Michael Hartmann, 49, was in the backyard of his Smithtown Avenue home when two people entered his yard and fired multiple shots, striking him once, at about 6:35 a.m., Suffolk County police said. He died at the scene.

"The investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the immediate area," police shared on social media.
