Man Killed In LI Car Crash Identified: Police
A pedestrian who was hit and killed by a man driving a BMW in Oakdale on Friday has been identified, Suffolk County police say.
OAKDALE, NY — Steven McDonald, 63, of Coram, was the pedestrian hit and killed by a car in Oakdale on Friday night, Suffolk County police said.
Wayne Griffith, 60, of Medford, was driving a 2011 BMW 550 when he struck McDonald, who was in the roadway of eastbound Sunrise Highway between Exit 48 and Exit 49 around 9:30 p.m., police said.
McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Police said Griffith was not injured and the BMW was impounded for a safety check.
