SMITHTOWN, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Karen Napolitano, who nominated her three children, Michael, Tony & Angela, of Smithtown.

Reason for recognition:
Every night for 5 months they ride around St. Catherine's Hospital, Nursing Home & Whispering Woods Assistant Living, honking the horn and thanking every medical & essential worker possible. Dozens of people cry with joy thanking them for their bright smiles.

One thing to know:
They are truly inspirational at 1, 6 & 8 years old.
